Selkirk 'A' v Peebles 2nds

Selkirk A step up District Cup bid

IN Saturday's rearranged Borders District Cup tie at Philiphaugh, Selkirk 'A' managed to overcome a bigger and more physical Peebles 2nds side to make it two wins out of two in the competition.

The match kept spectators entertained from start to finish, with eight tries being scored in a ding-dong contest.

All Selkirk's touchdowns came from the threequarters, underlining the home side's superiority in this department.

Up front it was good to see wing forward Chris Kemp back in action after a 14-week injury lay-off, and the talented former Youth Club player is certain to prove a big asset to the club in the weeks ahead.

Number eight David Gray turned in a typically dynamic display, while centre Gary Lyall took his season's points total to 108 with three conversions and the same number of penalties.

Try scorers for Selkirk were Craig Hunter (2), Michael Jaffray (2) and Cammy Cochrane.
