Dumfries A 7, Selkirk A 22

'A' side down 'Doonhamers'

FROM the kick-off, Dumfries threw everything into attack, but the Selkirk defence was just as strong and determined.
It took Selkirk 15 minutes to break down their defence, and once breached Selkirk scored 10 unanswered points in the first half, first a try by winger Fraser Jack converted by Darren Scott, then a long-range penalty kick by Scott.
The game was stopped for a long period after a freak accident led to a broken leg for one of the Dumfries players.
When play did resume, it took the Selkirk team another 15 minutes to breach the Dumfries defence, a blind side break by Mike Davies converted by Darren Scott, who crossed the line to make his personal tally for the day to 12 points.
Dumfries got a consolation try at full-time.
