Selkirk Stormers 27, Haddington 'A' 24

A LAST minute penalty from the boot of Dan Pringle maintained Selkirk Stormers' unbeaten start to their RBS Reserve League East Pod A campaign at Philiphaugh on Saturday. Visitors Haddington put up a stiff fight, but the experience of Neil Cruikshank, allied to the rock-solid defence of man of the match Ben Purves saw the Souters run out deserved winners.

Back row forward Cruikshank led from the front and scored two early tries for the Stormers, but Haddington replied in kind to keep the contest on a knife-edge. Further tries by Chris Fairbairn and Steven Renwick secured a bonus point for the home team, with two successful conversions by Pringle keeping Stormers in the match.

The visitors staged a late rally to secure what looked like an honourable draw, but Dan Pringle kept his nerve as the seconds ticked away to send over a last-gasp penalty to earn Stormers a hard-earned victory.

This Saturday Stormers travel to North Berwick bidding for a hat-trick of league wins.
