SHORT-HANDED STORMERS UNABLE
TO OUT-MUSCLE MURRAYFIELD WANDERERS
Ben Purves - scored
the Stormers' only try.
ONCE again a short-handed Selkirk Stormers side showed plenty of fight against Reserve East League 1 opponents
Murrayfield Wanderers in the capital on Saturday, but at the end of the afternoon were still left looking for their
first win of the season.
Full-back Ben Purves scored the Stormers' only points of the contest from a first half try, with Man of the Match
Michael Jaffray using all his wiles and superior fitness level to shore up the visitors' midfield defence, alongside
fellow centre Gary Lyall.
Murrayfield's bigger pack eventually proved too much of an obstacle for the Philiphaugh men, who nevertheless scrummaged
and defended well throughout.
With player-coach Donny Mackenzie switching his allegiance to cricket for the day, credit goes to David Amos and
Benny Rafferty for jointly taking over the managerial helm in Donny's absence.
STORMERS - B. Purves, R. Henderson, M. Jaffray, G. Lyall, S. Farrell, D. Pringle, S. Tough, J. Stephen, S. Rodgerson,
C. Henderson, B. Reid, Ryan Wilson, J. Bett, Ruairi Wilson, M. Robertson. Rep: S. Blackhall.
