Aberdeen Grammar FP 2nds 22 Selkirk A 24

Selkirk 'A' travelled to Aberdeen on Saturday and after a hard, physical match the team won 24 points to 22. There's no doubt that, after a 4 hour journey, the home team have a huge advantage and this was apparent early in the game when Aberdeen Grammar scored 2 quick tries. Mikey Rutherford kicked a good penalty and this seemed to settle the young Selkirk team who had four 18 year olds in their squad. Rutherford kicked another 2 penalties but just on half time the Grammar scored another try making the half time score 22-9 to the home side.
With the wind behind them the A boys produced a very mature performance in the second half pinning Aberdeen down in their own 22. With pack well on top, Rutherford kicked another 4 penalties, one from the half way line, taking his day's haul to 24 points. The game finished with Selkirk well on top showing a never-say-die spirit and keeps the team well in the top half of the National Reserve Premier One League.
