Selkirk 22 Dundee 25.
After a lengthy lay off, Selkirk took on a Dundee
side intent on winning. Right from the kick off, they were on the attack and after only 2 minutes they had scored
their first try of the day. Only five minutes later Selkirk were two tries down, they could not stem the tide of
tries coming at them. Fifteen minutes played and the home side were 20 points down and looked to be heading for
a cricket score against them.
On the 20 minute mark, man of the match Clapperton broke through the Dundee defence and scored a converted try
, Banks getting the conversion. Clapperton again broke through the defensive back line to set up a try for Anderson
who went in under the posts giving Banks an easy conversion. Banks kicked a penalty kick when the Dundee defence
was caught off side with the first half coming to an end Selkirk took the lead for the first time in the game when
full back Welsh got on the score sheet after he came into the back line and went over the try line with out anybody
laying a hand on him. Banks missing the conversion.
Half Time Selkirk 22 Dundee 20.
After the try fest of the first half the score board only altered the once when Dundee s forwards rolled over from
a line out near the home line for a unconverted try early in the half.
The game went from one end to the other, Selkirk looking for the winning score but the strong Dundee held the line
intact. Selkirk had a chance to tie the game but opted to run the ball but came up short.
