Falkirk 7 - Selkirk 43

Selkirk travelled to Sunnyside keen to do the double over the homsters after last season’s reverses. The visitors were missing a few first team regulars in the pack, giving a number of ‘ A ‘ team players a chance to show their worth in the senior side.

The game started with Falkirk putting a lot of pressure on the Selkirk goal line, however after 8 minutes Darren Clapperton ran the ball from his own 22 metre line and scored an uncovered try. The visiting backline were in fine form with further tries in the first half coming from wingers Josh Welsh, Frazer Anderson and fullback Stevie Hamilton. Arron McColm converting two of them.With the Selkirk backs running the ball at every occasion the home back line could not cope with their pace and strength.
The only score in the game from Falkirk came after 25minutes , a mistake in defence allowed their number 8 to plunder the ball a stroll in under the posts for a converted try .

Selkirk continued the pressure in the second half and after 10 minutes Stevie Hamilton scored his second try of the day ,Clapperton making the inroads to the line and then offloading to Hamilton, Arron McColm was successful with the conversion.

Josh Welsh was next to score when he took off on a run from inside his own half and finished off by scoring an unconverted try in the corner.
Arron McColm finished off the scoring by breaking the home back line and scoring under the posts ,converted by himself.
Best for Selkirk were man of the match Darren Clapperton, Stevie Hamilton with Max Gordon and James Bett in the pack.
