Selkirk 27, Gala 8

Selkirk finally managed to welcome near neighbours Gala for the BT National 1 League game on Tuesday night, the previous two dates having fallen foul of the weather.
The Souters were determined to avenge the early season defeat at Netherdale and regain the 3rd spot in the league.
However it was Gala who started the game with a bang and after only 2 minutes Gregor Hunter kicked them into the lead with a penalty kick when the home backs were caught offside on their 22 metre line. This was the last time the visitors troubled the scorers until the final play of the game!
With Selkirk starting to dominate in the scrum , the Gala pack were driven back and conceded a penalty with Arron McColm converting to the the scores.
With half time looming Selkirk struck again with another penalty kick by McColm. This was closely followed by a try by Callum McEwan, who was a thorn in the Braw Lads defence all night. After a number of forward drives he darted over from close range the score being converted by McColm.
Straight from the re-start the ball was gathered by Darren Clapperton who was in electric form all evening. He ripped through the Gala defence and fed full back Stevie Hamilton who ran in from the half way beating the despairing Gala cover tackles go over in the corner. The try was again converted by Arron McColm from wide out.

Half Time - Selkirk 20 - Gala 3

After the restart Selkirk started where they had finished before the break pressing on the Gala line. This led to a deserved try by Darren Clapperton after a mix up in the Gala rearguard behind there own line, the extras being added by McColm.
For the remainer of the half the home team pressed for the elusive 4th try and bonus point. However some determined defending by the visitors prevented this coup de grace
With the final play of the game Gala scored a consolation try through Craig Robertson.
