Selkirk travelled to Netherdale on Saturday to take on Gala in a top of the league clash, both teams unbeaten in the league so far.
Gala started the stronger side, and were dominant in the scrum. The home side scored the first points of the day with a penalty kick from Hunter after a ruck infringement by Selkirk.
The rest of the first half was played at a fast pace, with both sides running the ball at all times, the only other score of the half coming again from the boot of Hunter, the result of another offside offence by The Souters.
Although Selkirk continued the game at a fast tempo, they were repeatedly foiled by a very strong Gala defence often taking the wrong option.

Gala started the second half with a bang, scoring a well earned try in the corner, the touchdown coming from Turnbull after some strong running along with his team mate Speirs. The try was converted by Hunter.
Selkirk had more of the ball than Gala in the last third and managed to run in a try by Scott Hendrie after some slick handling along the back line. The conversion was missed by McColm. The Souters had more than their fair share of the ball after that but made no further headway, repeatedly coming up against a resolute and well organised Gala defence.
With time running out, Gala kicked another penalty kick by Hunter to make full time score Gala 16.Selkirk 5.
