Selkirk hosted Musselburgh in a rearranged BT N1 game at Philiphaugh on Saturday. The Souters were desperate to get a win after two disappointing results on the road.
Selkirk got off to great start when Josh Welsh scored his first try of the afternoon in only 9 mins after a break by Darren Clapperton ,converted by Arron McColm. There was more joy for the home support when 6 mins later Clapperton finished a break from the half way line ,which involved most of the home backline again converted by McColm .
Next to score was Welsh again after some exciting running by Clapperton and Hamilton McColm adding the extra points from the touch line. Clinton Wagman was next to get on the score sheet after a lineout near the Musselburgh line the winger sneaked in from the resulting ruck on the line, McColm missing the extras. With With the home side’s bonus point already in the bag Musselburgh came more into the game and scored a converted try through their prop forward.Selkirk scored the last try of the half Welsh getting his hat trick ,McColm converting to make the half time score Selkirk 33.Musselburgh 7.
With Selkirk keeping the pressure on the home team scored another again through Welsh, from deep in their own and turning over a Mussselburgh attack Wagman ,Clapperton broke through allowing Welsh to take the scoring pass and dot down for a easy conversion by Banks .
Musselburgh game back with two converted tries, but in the last three mins Selkirk scored two converted tries from Banks and then Clapperton who ran almost the length of the field to touch down .
Best for Selkirk MOM Clapperton ,Welsh ,Reilly and Hall in an all round greatly improved display.

Final Score Selkirk 54 - Musselburgh 19
