Musselburgh 20, Selkirk 39
Selkirk travelled to Stoneyhill on Saturday to
play Musselburgh in their first league game of the season,
The game started at a frantic pace with the home side taking the lead with penalty after only 3 mins, shortly followed
by Aaron McColm penalty to level the score. After 10mins Musselburgh went in front with another penalty from their
stand off Bowman.
Selkirk scored then scored their first try from Peter Forrest after some good inter play between backs and forwards,
this was converted by Aaron McColm
Musselburgh took the lead back following a line out on Selkirk's try their pack started a rolling maul and crossed
the line to score their first converted try.
Then came a purple patch for Selkirk scoring three tries in 10 mins through Josh Welsh with 2 and captain Ross
Nixon ,McColm converting two of them. All the tries came about following excellent interplay between forwards and
backs with excellent offloading in the tackle.
Half time score Musselburgh 13 Selkirk. 29.
Selkirk started the second half attacking the home side's try line ,but to no avail with the Musselburghs defence
holding strong .However Musselburgh started to gain the upper hand with Selkirk now on the back foot.
With the home side on the attack,Selkirk turned the ball over on two occasions and went down to the other end and
scored unconverted tries from Stevie Hamilton and Aaron McColm, the latter after Aaron broke from his own half
beating multiple defenders before crossing to score an excellent try.
Musselburgh scored the last try of the game scored through their beefy forward pack after some aggressive mauling
near the the Selkirk try line again converted by Bowman.
