Marr started the game with a bang number 8 Miller going to score a converted try after only 2minutes. Eventually the Selkirk forwards got into the game ,more than holding the bigger Marr forwards in the loose and scrums. Half way through the half Selkirk,s stand off Banks put a thumping tackle on their number 8 Miller on the half way line and the ever supporting number 7 McClymont scooped the ball up and ran through a couple of would be tacklers to cross in the corner, Banks missing the conversion from the touch line.
On the 30 minute mark Marr went in front when McIntrye kicked a penalty from the 22metre line when the Selkirk side were caught offside. Banks replied minutes later with three points of his own to take the score to 8.. 10 in favour of the visitors
Half time Selkirk 8. Marr 10 .
The second half was a purple patch for Selkirk who soaked up all that Marr could throw at them Selkirk full back Cassidy the hero ,kicking two long range penalties .
Marr could not get one shot at goal until 20 minutes into the half .
All players in the Selkirk squad stuck manfully to the task in hand, by the end of the game were the more dominant team on the park
Full time score Selkirk 14. Marr 13.
