Next Tournament - Hawick 28/10/18 ..... (P3-7)

Rhinos News 02/11/18 - Murrayfield

A very successful trip to Murrayfield for the Selkirk Rhinos last Friday night. The P5 and P6's performed the guard of honour as the teams ran out and at half-time the P6 and P7's played Dunbar in the international pitch.

The kids were also well supported by family and friends who made the trip on 'the supporters' bus.

This was a fantastic event and thanks to all those who helped in making it a special night.

Rhinos News 23/09/18
P1/2 kids thrashed their parents yet again to take an unassailable lead in the series.
P3s - Mixed bag on Sunday for the P3's. Got off to a great start beating Melrose in their first game. 2nd game was a close contest losing out to Duns. After this the boys picked themselves up and beat a plucky gala side. There last game of their group was against Peebles. The boys were getting tired by this stage and lost by a couple of tries. There play off was against Biggar and lost by 3 tries to 1. Great display by our guys who got stuck in and really enjoyed it.

P5 - Rhinos scored over forty tries today to come third in the Melrose tournament. We won our Pool very well and moved forward to the winners Round Robin for the P5 Tournament Cup. We sadly lost our last of eight games against our old nemesis Duns. We played amazing Rugby against such strong opposition all day. The Borders P5 strength is staggering. We are in the "mix" every tournament and of the seventeen matches we've played this year we have only lost 2 games. It was lovely to see such engaging play from Emily Dickson and also a strong day from Charlie Francis who tackled so well and ran with confidence. Conor and Liam Oliver are like a pair of tanks. They run with such confidence and strength and tackle with a reliability that we can count on. Chloe Tuft plays with real initiative and looks for space. Hamish Cleghorn and Noah Gilmour played vintage performances, Hamish running in space and Noah tackling with bravery and darting runs, and will both be ones to watch as we go forward. George Fuller has come this year and played a good solid game against Duns in the last game of the day doing well to retain possession. Josh Carroll has really demonstrated his pace over all three tournaments to date and has a huge future in this team. Rory Tomlinson once again put in the complete performance. The three coaches could not have asked more from this wonderful group of young players. Well done. So much heart, commitment and class. We are the team people want to beat. Our Rhino of the week was a unanimous decision by the coaches - Connor Oliver.

Donald Francis P5 Coach

Kneeling: Charlie Francis, Hamish Cleghorn, Josh Carroll, Noah Gilmour, Chloe Tuft.

P6. Some really good rugby played during our 6 games. Was tough going as we only had one sub and special mention to Isaac who moved up from P5 to help for the day.
We played really well with the ball in handwith Gala complimenting us on how they couldn't get the ball.
Two highlights for me were the manner in which we scored two tries, this came from great support play and handling. The other huge positive this week was the attitude of all the players, they were respectful to eachother and most of all looked to be enjoying it.

P7- Team where great again today wining against; Biggar, Melrose, Gala and Peebles.
Came up against a very good Kelso team who are setting the standard at the moment, and lost out in the group game and "final"
Boys, coaches and parents a bit disappointed not to be rewarded for their efforts as once again rules and tournament points system confusing.
