Selkirk ‘A’ extend hot streak
Because the visitors travelled down to Philiphaugh with only 12 men, home players Robert Conway, Glyn Owen and Douglas Gunn agreed to don opposition colours. Sadly Owen later had to be taken to the BGH with a suspected broken ankle, although the injury is now thought to be a ruptured tendon. Ahead 36-7 at half-time, Selkirk’s points came from tries by ex-coach Derek McFadzen (3), David Reive (2), Neil Brown (2), Jim Ross, Darren Hulme and Chris Kemp. Fly-half Mark Easson also notched two tries, as well as landing six conversions. Centre Gary Lyall completed the home scoring with two conversion kicks. This Saturday Selkirk ‘A’ are looking for a fixture, and any local match secretaries who think they might be able to help out are asked to get in touch with Mrs Mary Inglis on 01750 20593.
