Howe of Fife 12 Selkirk 2nds 12

When Selkirk seconds travelled to Cupar on Saturday to play Howe of Fife with the defeat of last weeks game still in their minds and some key plays off, they were under no illusion that this would be an easy game for the Selkirk lads.
It took 30mins for Selkirk to score, with the forwards winning ball from a lineout for Gary Guthrie to break the opposition defence and run in for an unconverted try in the corner. Selkirk didn't take long to get there next try with Jim Ross taking the ball forward well, laying it off to Michael McVie who set up Mark Easson to fall over the line. Gary Lyall to convert to make the half time score 0/12
In the second half Selkirk tried running the ball in hand and with a lot good, secrure lineout ball, put some real pressure on HoF. However, after some great defence by Selkirk with How camped on their line for more than Minutes, HoFfinally went over for there first score which was unconverted. With heads down after this try against the run of play,Howe came back straight away with another try under the Selkirk posts which was easily converted to bring the scores level.

With chances few and far between after that, Selkirk had to settle for the draw . All in all, Selkirk 2nds will be looking forward to the home advantage with confidence when they play them in the return fixture later in the season.
