Saturday’s game saw Selkirk travel west to take Ayr in the quarter final for the Scottish Cup. Although the end result was not to be for the men in blue, what was great to see was Ross Nixon running out for his 300th appearance for Selkirk. After 17 years, Ross is still a very influential player in the Selkirk squad and has been a stalwart for the club since his debut against Biggar in 2006. This season has seen Ross take to field at stand-off, centre and back row which shows his versatility and the experience he brings to the squad is invaluable as many of the younger players coming through look to learn from him.
