A True Gentleman

It is with great sadness that the club announces the passing on Sunday, November 13, of its former president Donald Macleod. He was 81. Donald not only epitomised all that was good about Selkirk Rugby Club, but about the game of rugby football itself. He served as Selkirk RFC president from 2009-2011, and was president of the Scottish Rugby Union from 2013-2014. A former team doctor to the Scotland rugby team, he took on this role for the British & Irish Lions’ 1983 tour to New Zealand. The club’s flag is being flown at half-mast in Donald’s honour, and a minute’s silence will be observed by both teams prior to this Friday night’s Tennent’s Premiership fixture against Jed-Forest at Philiphaugh. The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to Lucile and the family.
